Embert F. Wackershauser

Embert F. Wack Wackershauser, age 88, of Glen Haven, died on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in rural Lancaster surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born on July 1, 1922, in Potosi, the son of Henry and Lillian (Eggers) Wackershauser. Embert served his country during World War II stationed in Germany. On May 7, 1946, he was united in marriage to Arlene M. Adrian at St. Charles Parsonage in Cassville. Embert was a carpenter for a period of time at Badger Roofing Company in Platteville. Together they operated Breeze Inn in Cassville. In 1951, they owned and operated Wackershausers Tavern in Glen Haven, and in 1965, they built Wacks Bar. Embert was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. As family and friends would tell you, if he could not be found behind the bar, you would find him somewhere on the Mississippi River. Embert was a dedicated member of the Glen Haven Fire Department where he served as assistant chief. He was a member of the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington and the VFW Post No. 7080 of Cassville.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Arlene Wackershauser, Glen Haven; his children: Bette Ann (Jerry) Hoffman, Cassville; Connie (John) Horkheimer, Bloomington; Bruce (Bonnie Dailey) Wackershauser, Glen Haven; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: Henry (Barbara) Wackershauser, Prairie du Chien; Louis (Gloria) Wackershauser, Beloit; sister-in-law, Violet Wackershauser, Prairie du Chien; many nieces and nephews.

Embert was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Hiltrude Crapp; two brothers: Wilfred Bud and Virgil Wackershauser.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. Burial with military honors was in Charlotte Cemetery, Glen Haven Township. Family and friends called on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Embert F. Wackershauser Memorial Fund has been established. Virgil G. Wackershauser

Virgil G. Wackershauser, age 84, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Lancaster, passed away at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, on Thursday evening, January 22, 2009, after a very short battle with pneumonia and acute leukemia. Virgil was born September 12, 1924, to Henry & Lillian (Eggers) Wackershauser. Virgil grew up near Dickeyville (Big Patch/Georgetown area). He was the middle child and had one sister and 4 brothers. He was proud of the fact that he graduated from eight grades in six years, as he got to skip a couple grades in school. On Jan. 11, 1945, he was united in marriage with Eunice Place in Platteville. She preceded him in death on February 19, 1997. Virgil & Eunice began their married life on a small farm near Dickeyville, but moved shortly thereafter to the current family farm near Lancaster/Stitzer area, where they raised a son and three daughters. In 1975, they retired from the farm and bought a home in Lancaster. In 2003, Virgil moved to Prairie du Chien. He married Violet Koecke on July 15, 2003, in Prairie du Chien. They currently reside there. During his farming days, Virgil managed to work at a variety of jobs off the farm as well. Over those many years, he hauled cattle and milk for his brother, hauled milk at the Livingston Creamery, worked at a feed mill in Belmont, fertilizer plant & Wasco in Stitzer, plowed snow & highway work for the Grant Co. Highway Dept., read meters for REA, delivered the Shopping News, was a carpenter, and was once the town chairman for Liberty Township and farming for many years. He enjoyed helping others with remodeling or building projects, doing yard work and gardening, or any other handyman jobs that came along. Virgil enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, bus trips to the casinos, watching basketball and baseball games, attending Amish sales, and fishing with his buddies. He enjoyed talking and cracking jokes to anyone he knew, even making his grandchildren giggle. With his busy travels in life, he always had plenty of time set aside for family and friends. He truly adored his children and grandchildren! He was a member of the Bagley Methodist Church.

Virgil is survived by his wife of five years, Violet of Prairie du Chien, one son: Carson (Mary) of Lancaster; three daughters: Patty (Larry) Reed, Platteville; Sandy (Rich) Soles, Mt. Hope; Lou Ann (Jim) Blackburn, Bagley. Also surviving are grandchildren: Brian (Kristi), Laura, and Jennifer Wackershauser; Chris (Brenda) Reed and Candace (Bill) Reid; Hillary (Marty Bement) Soles, Tanisha Soles, and Justin (Jessi) Soles; Travis (Anne) Blackburn and Lacy (Jesse) Chapiewsky. Great Grandchildren surviving are John & Katie Wackershauser, Morgan & Taylor Reid, Hanna & Emma Reed, Carter & Addison Blackburn, and Cooper & Ty Chapiewsky. Virgil is survived by four brothers: Wilfred Bud, Embert, Henry Joe, and Louis and numerous nieces & nephews, brother- & sister-in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice, his parents-Henry & Lillian, his sister, Hiltrude Crapp, and several in-laws.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday. Cremation followed, with burial at the Hillside Cemetery at a later date.

Virgils family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Gunderson Lutheran and Prairie du Chien medical staff for their special care.

James Wagar

James R. Wagar, age 46, of Beetown, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster. He was born on March 19, 1968, in Lancaster, the son of Joseph and Elinor (Metcalf) Wagar. Jim graduated from Lancaster High School in May 1986. He then graduated from Wisconsin School of Electronics in Madison in June 1988 with an Associate Degree in Electronics. Jim moved to Florida where he worked for Aero Aire. He often traveled to England, France, Canada and the entire United States. Jim even worked on the Presidents helicopter at Stratford, Connecticut. On June 23, 1990, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lori Lynn Richardson. After their marriage, the couple moved back to Wisconsin in 1996. Jim worked at Dillman Equipment Co., Division of Astec, Tennessee for the past sixteen years. He enjoyed fishing, outdoor activities and family functions. Jim dearly enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughters. He also enjoyed making hovercrafts in his basement with his brother. Jim loved to debate and had a dry sense of humor that will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lori; daughters: Tara and Katelin, all of Beetown; his parents, Joseph and Elinor Wagar, Beetown; brothers: David (Beth) Wagar, Bloomington; Lynn (Jamie) Wagar, Prairie du Chien; sister, Brenda (Dan) Odeen, Prairie du Chien; his mother and father-in-law, Mary and David Richardson, Potosi; sisters-in-law, Michelle Richardson, Potosi; Michelyn (Todd) Clanton, Prairie du Chien; brother-in-law, David (Melissa) Richardson, Lancaster; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

A Service of Remembrance was held on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster. Burial was in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. Mary Wagner

Mary F. "Itsey" Wagner, age 98, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on November 26, 1918, the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth (Krogman) Welchert. Mary graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Bloomington. On December 29, 1938, she was united into marriage to William "Bill" Wagner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington. Together they farmed for many years in the Bloomington and Lancaster area. Mary was employed as a nurse's assistant for over 18 years at the former Lancaster Care Center. She was a devoted member of St. Clement Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court of St. Rita No. 670. Mary was also a member of the St. Clement Quilters and Bloomington/Little Grant Homemaker's Club. She dearly loved keeping up with her family and their activities.

Survivors include her children: David (Paula), Gene (LuAnn) Wagner; Sally (Leo) Skaife; Jane (Tom) Schill; Becky (Bill) Popp; a son-in-law, Clarence Kluesner; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Annie Wagner.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; a daughter, Joan Kluesner; her siblings: Hilda (Art) Krantz; Julia (Mike) Wagner; Joe (Delpha), John Welchert; Alma (Earl) Neis; and many members of the Wagner family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend John Sasse officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Robert Wagner

Sandra L. Wagner

Sandra L. Sandy Wagner, age 58, of Lancaster died on Thursday, January 29, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital in Madison. She was born on May 9, 1950, in Antigo, WI, the daughter of John and Lorraine (Wellner) Gray. She attended Peace Lutheran Grade School, and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1968. On September 28, 1968, she was united in marriage to Larry A. Wagner at the E&R Church in Lancaster. Larry preceded her in death in 2000. She was employed at the former Lancaster Memorial Hospital and provided in-home daycare. Sandy began employment with the Lancaster Community School District as a secretary in 1986. She has been involved in the Guidance Department and later in the middle school office. In July of 2008, Sandy became the head secretary at Winskill Elementary School. She loved spending time with her family and her girls night out group and riding around in her convertible. Sandy was an active member of the Bethlehem E&R Church, Womens VFW Auxiliary, Lancaster Rescue Squad, Lions Club, Girl Scout Leader, and the Lancaster Relay for Life. Sandys love and dedication for her family and the well being of others is an inspiration for us all.

Survivors include her children, Lori (Doug) Rider, Linden; Jennifer (Tony) Munson, Lancaster; Tammy (special friend Art Stoney) Wagner, Lancaster; Larry Bud (Misty) Wagner, Jr., Lancaster; Jason (Jen) Wagner, Lancaster; eleven grandchildren: Josh, Emily, Kaitlynn, AJ, Katrina, Nicole, Brenden, Mac, Johnathan, Brent, Eva, and her special grand-dog, Doolie; her brothers: Mike (Jann) Gray, Milwaukie, OR; Donald (Kathy) Gray, Howards Grove; her sister: Bonnie Gray, Linden; her step-mother, Mary Ann Gray, Livingston; her mother-in-law, Arlene (Harold) Wagner, Lancaster; many brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, her parents, her father-in-law, Harold Wagner, a niece, Cindra Wagner, a nephew, Micah Hickman, a great-niece, Zoe Gray and a brother-in-law, Lowell Wagner.

Bonita I. Waldman

Bonita I. Bonnie Waldman, age 56, of Stitzer, died on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at her home. She was born on November 9, 1952, in Iowa, the daughter of James and Tillie (Sauvell) Allington. In 1970, Bonnie graduated from Seneca High School. She furthered her education at the University of Wisconsin at Platteville. On September 14, 1985, Bonnie was united in marriage to Gary W. Waldman at the Seneca Lutheran Church. She was employed at various jobs in Gays Mills, Rolling Ground and Boscobel. Bonnie enjoyed reading and being outdoors. She loved her animals and feeding all the wild birds.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Waldman, Stitzer; her father, James Allington, Soldiers Grove; her brother, Kory Allington, Seneca; two sisters: Betty (Kenny) Kroll, Milwaukee, and their daughter Jennifer; Brenda (Charles) Hiam, Ferryville, and their daughter, Karie; sisters-in-law, Shirley Bryant, Benton; Carol (Larry) Mayhew, Spring Green; two brothers-in-law: Larry (Janet) Waldman, Stitzer; Jerry (Sandy) Waldman, Stitzer;; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, two brothers, Ken and Keith Allington; her mother and father-in-law, Hilda and Carl Waldman; and a brother-in-law, Donald Bryant.

Chris Walker

Chris Walker, age 91, of Lancaster, formerly of Beetown, died on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on October 17, 1919, in Waterloo Township, the son of Chris and Mary (Walker) Chase. On September 20, 1947, he married Lois M. Clark at the Fennimore United Methodist Church. Since 1951, he has owned and operated Chris Walker Auctioneering. He also operated the Walker family farm in Waterloo Township. Chris and Lois owned the Valley Tap in Beetown. He was a member of the Warren Lodge #4 F&AM of Potosi for more than 60 years and served as a Past Master. Chris enjoyed hunting and fishing. At the age of 85, he went buffalo hunting in South Dakota with his family.

Survivors include four children: Ronald (Deb) Walker, Soldotna, AK; Tom (Roberta) Walker, Cassville; Deborah (Doug Dobson) Walker, Platteville; and Michael Walker, East Dubuque, IL; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a half-brother, Alvin Walker, Cassville.

In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, in 2008 and a half-brother, Matt Walker.

Dale L. Walker

Doris Walker

Doris K. Walker, age 90 of Lancaster, passed away Thursday April 30, 2015 at Grant Regional Health Center. She was born November 3, 1924 in North Lancaster Township the daughter of Ben and Clem (Gillespie) Hupenbecker. Doris attended the North School and later graduated from Lancaster High School. She married Virgil E. Walker on December 24, 1942. Together they started farming on the Earl Walker farm on Borah Road, rural Lancaster. In 1956 they moved to Prairie Du Chien, where Virgil was a livestock buyer for Oscar Mayer. Doris was a homemaker, volunteered at Prairie Du Chien Memorial Hospital, and worked at Hamann's Variety Store. Doris and Virgil moved back to the Earl Walker farm in 1958 and later bought the farm in North Lancaster Township in 1960, that they would call home. They worked side by side and took great pride in their farm. Doris and Virgil were members of the West Grant Saddle Club. She was a North Star 4 - H club leader, and a Grant County Fair Superintendent for over twenty five years. In 1985 they moved to Lancaster as their son David took over the farm. Doris and Virgil enjoyed camping at River of Lakes Resort in Bagley, fishing, playing cards and visiting with other campers. She enjoyed cake decorating and ceramics. Doris dearly loved her family and keeping up with their activities

Surviving is a daughter Janet Ann Walker, a son David (Julie) Walker, four grandchildren; Lisa, Sarah, Erin and Brian Walker.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 65 years, Virgil in 2007, her siblings; Hazel (Clarence) Udelhoven, Roy (Jenny) Hupenbecker, Carol (Harvey) Lemanski, and Ruby (Myer) Dixon.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, with Pastor Barbara Cook officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery. Dorothy L. Walker

Dorothy L. Walker, age 92, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Dorothy was born August 16, 1918 in Ellenboro Township; the daughter of Ulysess and Augusta (Rossow) Boyd. On January 3, 1942, she married Fred O. Ready in Lancaster. She spent most of her life in the Lancaster area; though she did live for 20 years in Virginia. She later married Arthur Walker. Dorothy liked to sing, read, bake and travel. Dorothy and her sister Mildred loved to sing and performed at the Grantland Theater, the Reed Opera House, and a number of one-room school houses in the Lancaster area. They won a WLS Radio Station Amateur Talent contest in 1937 and were invited to sing at the National Barn Dance and the Grand Old Opry amateur night in Chicago.

She is survived by her daughter Dorene (Robert) Boardman of Clayton, North Carolina; and son, Walton (Joyce) Ready of Roscoe, Illinois. She is also survived by six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: brother, Harry Boyd; and sisters, Theresa Boyd, Elva Haines, and Mildred Wolf.

Gladys M. Walker

Gladys M. Walker, age 98, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born December 29, 1915, in Harrison Township, Grant County, the daughter of William and Florence (Wolf) Weber. Gladys married Wilbur Walker on September 21, 1940, in Independence, Iowa. Wilbur preceded her in death on December 26, 2000. Gladys graduated from Platteville High School and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Gladys taught in a one room rural country grade school for eighteen years, and then for three years at State Graded School at Mount Hope. Gladys later was the fourth grade teacher at Winskill Elementary School in Lancaster from 1966 until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Gladys enjoyed fishing, gardening, crocheting, reading, traveling, golfing, and playing cards. She dearly loved her family and keeping up with their activities.

Surviving is her daughter, Karen (Bob) Bellmeyer, her son, John (Diane) Walker, seven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Donna Weber.

In addition to her husband, Wilbur, Gladys was preceded in death by her brother, Clifford Weber and her sister, Carol (Robert) Brouillard.

Lois M. Walker

Lois M. Walker, age 82, of Beetown, died on Friday, September 12, 2008, at Lancaster Care Center. She was born on March 23, 1926 in Wehrle, WI, the daughter of Abe and Ella (Shinoe) Clark. She attended Fennimore High School. Lois married Chris Walker September 20, 1947 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church. Together they farmed in the Beetown area. She also operated the Valley Tap in Beetown. In her retirement, she enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving is her husband, Chris Walker, Beetown; her children: Tom (Roberta) Walker, Cassville; Deborah (Doug Dobson) Walker, Beetown and Michael Walker, East Dubuque, IL; a sister, JoAnne Smalley, Alexandria, VA; a brother, Clare (Darlene) Clark, Dallas, TX; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Alvin Walker, Cassville.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Cassville with Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Cassville Cemetery. Friends called on Monday, September 15, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville and from 9:30 until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mary E. Walker

Mary E. Walker, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society in Fennimore. She was born December 22, 1925, the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Cero) Hahn. She graduated from Fennimore High School in 1943 and then worked in the Frantz Law Office, the Leo Brechler Insurance Office and The First State Bank in Fennimore.

Mary married Roger Walker on October 23, 1948, and together they farmed on the Walker family farm in Liberty Township until Roger became ill and passed away on November 18, 1958. Mary and their three daughters then moved to Lancaster and she started working at Lancaster State Bank. She attended the Graduate School of Banking at University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated in 1982. Mary continued working at M&I Bank in Lancaster for a total of thirty-five years, eventually becoming Assistant Vice President and Trust Officer, retiring in 1990.

Mary was very active at St. Clement Catholic Church, serving on the church council and finance committee. She was also a secretary of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, president of the Schreiner Memorial Library Board, and member of the Lancaster Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Mary was a tour guide and coordinator for the bus trips offered by M&I Bank Prestige Club. She enjoyed the bus trips, sewing, cooking, crocheting, golfing, playing cards, and craftwork. Mary loved having her family together for the holidays, and going out to eat with her friends. She cherished her grandchildren and always enjoyed having them come and stay with her. She went out of her way to plan activities, and to make sure everyone had a great time.

Surviving are her three daughters: Jane (Bruce) Folbrecht; Nancy Martin; Carol (Jon Hill) Bentzler; six grandchildren: Chris (Betsy) Folbrecht; Kathleen Folbrecht; Jennifer (David) Wilkie; Kelly (Josh) Taylor; Zach (Nicki Oster) and Anna Bentzler; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold (Linda) Hahn; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hahn; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Roger, Mary was preceded in death by her four brothers: Charles (Amelia); Herbert (Mary Jean); Fred and Bernard.

Stacy Walker

Stacy Joy Walker, age 42, formerly from Cassville, WI, died Monday, June 20, 2016, from complications after surgery. Daughter of Thomas C. Walker (deceased) and Roberta P. Walker, sister to Thomas C. Walker, Jr, Daniel D. Walker (Holly) and Philip J. Walker.

Born and raised in Cassville, WI, she attended the Cassville Elementary Grade School, Cassville High School Class of 1992, University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, and Minnesota State University - Mankato, MN, majoring in Special Ed and Theatre Arts.

High School activities included sports (volley ball), Chorus and Band (flute), 7th and 8th Grade plays and numerous High School musicals. She was the first student in the school to participate all four years in the Forensics Speech program, earning one silver and three gold awards at the State Finals.

She moved to St. Louis after college and began her career with the Special School District of St. Louis County, and worked at the Ross Elementary and Northeast Middle Schools. She was very active with the Middle School plays, Show Choir and musicals as the Technical Director, and chaperoned many trips to Disney World and 6 Flags Over Mid America. She also volunteered with the Special Olympics events, and local marathons. She nannyed for numerous St Louis families, and also did Tot Care at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church for many, many years.

Some of her favorite activities included returning to Cassville to help out with the High School musicals, attending any and all theatre productions, spoiling her godson Logan Walker, spending 4th of July weekends at the cabin in Wisconsin, and wearing her flip-fops, even in the winter! As a transplant to St Louis, she became an avid Cardinals fan, but always remained true to her Green Bay Packers roots!

She was preceded in death by her father Thomas C. Walker, her maternal grandparents Margaret and DeLoy Petersen, and her paternal grandparents Lois and Chris Walker. She is survived by her mother, Roberta, her brothers Tommy, Dan and Philip, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Thomas C. Walker

Thomas C. "Tom" Walker, age 64, of Cassville, died on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at his home in Cassville. He was born on September 11, 1948, in Potosi, the son of Chris and Lois (Clark) Walker. Tom graduated from Cassville High School in 1966. Following graduation, he entered the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War, stationed in Vietnam and Germany. On December 16, 1972, Tom was united in marriage to Roberta Margaret Petersen at Lake Zurich, IL. Tom was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works for thirty years, retiring in December of 1999. He was a member of the Cassville Fire Department, VFW Post No. 7080 of Cassville and a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta; their children: Stacy Walker, Tom (Jessica) Walker, Jr., Dan (Holly) Walker and Philip Walker; four grandchildren: Jake, Brandon, Logan and Ethan; his sister, Deb (Doug Dobson) Walker; half-brother, Ron (Deb) Walker; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Walker.

Funeral services with military honors were held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Wilma Walker

Wilma L. Walker died Tuesday, March, 8, 2011, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. Wilma was born on October 24, 1921 the daughter of Reuben and Augusta (Rice) Wetter in North Lancaster Township. She spent most of her life in the North Lancaster Township area having attended the Dyer Grade School and graduating from Lancaster High School in 1940. After her graduation, Wilma was employed at Parker Pen Company in Fennimore. She married her long time friend and neighbor, Stanley A. Walker on October 18, 1947 at the Bethlehem Evangelical & Reformed Church in Lancaster. Together they farmed on the Walker family farm in North Lancaster Township until 1974, when they built their retirement home on acreage off their farm. Shortly after Stanley died in 2003, Wilma moved to Sunrise Valley Apartments in Lancaster where she resided until illness caused her to move to Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Since 1938, she has served faithfully as a member of Bethlehem Evangelical & Reformed Church, and was currently president of its Womens Guild. Wilma treasured her friends and neighbors while living in North Lancaster Township. She was also a member of the Whitman Community Club, the Neighborhood Card Club, the Dyer Homemakers Club, the Busy Bees Womens Club, and the Christian Womens Club and continued joining many clubs even after moving to Lancaster. Wilma was a friend to many and shared her talents by giving them her paintings, items she crocheted, her tasty mints she made for weddings and parties for everyone, and of course, her famous cards, which she so lovingly made.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Edith Wetter, and Catherine Wetter; and many nieces and nephews. She will especially be missed by her close friends who she enjoyed while living in North Lancaster, and many new friends she made after moving to her new home in Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley in 2003; her parents; and brothers, Harold and Donald Wetter.

Wilmas family and friends would like to thank the staff at Orchard Manor for their compassionate and constant care of Wilma during her stay there, and John and Rosie Errthum & their family for including Wilma in their lives and adopting her as one of their own.

Clement J. Wall, Jr.

Clement J. Wall Jr., age 60, of Lancaster, moved to Heaven on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at St. Josephs Hospital in London, KY. He was born on June 14, 1951 Dubuque, IA, the son of Clement Sr. and Virginia (Adams) Wall of LaMotte, IA. The family moved to Lancaster, WI in 1962. He graduated from Lancaster High in 1969. On January 10, 1970, Clement was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Kathy VanNatta in Menominee, MI. After their marriage, the couple farmed. Clement was employed many years at John Deere Dubuque Works and established Kings Express Trucking Company in 2001.

He is survived by his wife of forty- two years, Kathy F. Wall, son Jon (Jannina Cucalon), daughters, Jennifer (Luke) Hess, Jeannie (Jason) Caruso, and JoLynn Wall, ten amazing grandchildren, and his siblings, Kay (Neil) Knutson, Thomas J. Wall, Ann (Jerry) Schwendinger, Jerry F. Wall, Rosalee (Dan) Lorenz, and Daniel M. Wall and brother in law Ron Bast.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mary (Ron) Bast.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fennimore with Reverend Douglas Inghram and Reverend Burliss Parker officiating. Beverly Wallin

Beverly D. Wallin, age 86, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 5, 1930, the daughter of Allen and Freda (Turk) Powers of rural Seneca. Beverly graduated from Seneca High School in 1948. On June 30, 1948, she married Charles Wallin and from this union seven children were born. Beverly worked at the Dug Out, Dickeyville and also Dick's Supermarket in Lancaster. Charles and Beverly were members of the Lucky Lancers Motorcycle Club and Snoopy SnoGoers Snowmobile Club. They enjoyed fishing, boating, and traveling. Many winters were spent in Texas. Beverly was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. She was well known for her sense of humor, her positive outlook on life, and her beautiful smile.

Survivors include her children: Dee (John) Medinger; Linda (Mark) Clement; Carl (Robyn) Wallin; Mary Chapman; Ann (Ray) Anderson; Randy (Kim) Wallin; and Sue Miles; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her sister, Carmen; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert Wallin; Norma (Fred) Wagner; Jim (Mary) Wallin; Wilma (Clinton) Smith; a special friend, Ron Kjos and his family: Pam (Dean) Johnson; Cheryl Olson; David (Ann) Kjos; Karen (Pat) Schroeder; other loving relatives and many friends. Ron and his family were very supportive to Beverly during her illness.

In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Chuck; brothers, Gerald and Dick, and a granddaughter, Jessica Rose Johnson.

Charles E. Wallin

Charles E. Wallin, age 86, of Lancaster, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 11, 2012.

He was born on September 29, 1926, to Charles and Marian (Horal) Wallin in rural Eastman. Charles graduated from Seneca High School in 1944 and served with the army of occupation in Japan. On June 30, 1948, he married Beverly Powers. They later settled in Lancaster and raised seven children. Charles retired after 32 years in the foundry at John Deere in Dubuque. Early on they enjoyed motorcycles and were members of the Lucky Lancers motorcycle club. Later they became members of the Snoopy SnoGoers Snomobile club. Charles and Bev also enjoyed boating and fishing on the Mississippi with many friends and many Canada fishing trips as well. Traveling was enjoyed and after retirement they spent winters in Texas. Charles was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 2820, the American Legion Post No. 109 and the VFW Post No. 2344 both of Lancaster. He was well known for his talents as a carpenter and mechanic.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Beverly Wallin, Lancaster; his children: Dee (John) Medinger, LaCrosse; Linda (Mark) Clement, Rancho Cordova, CA; Carl (Robyn) Wallin, St. Paul, MN; Mary Chapman, Lancaster; Ann (Ray) Anderson, Gays Mills; Randy (Kim) Wallin, Lancaster; and Sue (Darrin) Miles, Lancaster; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; his siblings: Robert Wallin, Prairie du Chien; Norma (Fred) Wagner, LaCrosse; Jim (Mary) Wallin, Mountain Home, Arkansas; Wilma (Clinton) Smith, Boscobel; his sister-in-law, Margaret Wallin, Sun Prairie; other loving relatives and many friends.

Donald A. Walsh

Donald A. Walsh, age 86, of Potosi, died on Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. He was born on June 15, 1923, in Tennyson, the son of Joseph and Anna (Wallenhorst) Walsh. Don graduated from St. Andrew Catholic High School and attended college at Marquette University in Milwaukee. He served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1946. Don was united in marriage to Helen M. Mulholland on January 21, 1947, at St. John the Baptist Church in Muscoda. Together they owned and operated Walsh Stores with locations in Tennyson, Prairie du Chien, Galena, IL and Maquoketa, IA. Don was a lifelong member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and the Catholic Knights No. 42. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 473 for over sixty years. Don served on the Tennyson Village Board and played third base for the Tennyson Athletic Club ball team. He was an appointed member for Grant Co. Estate Appraisers. Don loved spending time with his family and their activities as well as playing Crazy Eight with his friends at the Road House.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Helen Walsh, Potosi; two sons, Michael (Peg) Walsh, Potosi; Richard (Pat) Walsh, Galena, IL; two daughters, Victoria (Mac) McLaughlin, Maquoketa, IA; Jacklyn (Larry) Curtis, Potosi; thirteen grandchildren: Chad (Angele) and Scott (Anniina) Walsh, Misty, DJ, and Casey McLaughlin, Bekki, Brad, and Bobbi Walsh, Bridget, Brent, Brady, Lindsay, and Lacey Curtis; a sister, Patricia Langmeier, Prairie du Chien; a foster brother, Marvin (Dot) David, Potosi; five great-grandchildren: Aspen, Kaden, Irelyn, and Jasper Walsh, and Macklyn McLaughlin; a sister-in-law, Isabele Walsh, Dubuque, IA.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford, Robert (Jeanette) and Parnell (Julia) Walsh, his sister, Sr. Patricia Ann Walsh, and a foster brother, Walter (Erma) David, and a brother-in-law, Ben Langmeier.

Patricia Walsh

Patricia L. Walsh, age 84, of Cassville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on February 14, 1933, in Alton, IL, the daughter of James and Millie (Stilly) Cooper. Patricia attended school in Alton and it was there that she met Bernard "Pat" Walsh in 1963. Two children were born to this union: Marsha and Michael. The family moved to Cassville in 1966, where Patricia stayed at home and raised her family. She enjoyed being outdoors in the sunshine, sitting on her front porch, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her children: Marsha (Chris) Pojar, Michael (Janel) Walsh, Jim Lobmaster, Linda Crockett, JR Lobmaster, her stepson, Robert "Red" Walsh, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, her four brothers and three sisters: Emory, Dale, John, and Ray Cooper, Minnie Fleaner, Mabel Green, and Oleta Jacoby.

Ruth A. Walsh

Ruth A. Walsh, age 93, of Cassville, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 2, 2011. She was born on November 6, 1917, in a log home between Elkport and Littleport, IA, the daughter of Levi and Katherine (Wentz) Phelps. Ruth was united in marriage to Bernard Walsh. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Cassville, where she taught Sunday School, Royal Neighbors of America, and the Thorpe-Taylor American Legion Auxiliary. Ruth served in the Foster Grandparent Program of Grant County for over twenty-five years. She thought of each child as they were her own. Ruth always looked forward to family and friends, and her Iowa family visiting. She was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed playing cards with her friends in the Town and Country Card Club.

Survivors include her children: Robert Red Walsh, Ron Walsh, and Robin Rouse, all of Cassville; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great grandchildren; a brother, Dale (Lucille) Phelps, Lancaster.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her children, Patrick Terry Walsh, Sharlene Kay Walsh, Patsy Jean Holden and Lawrence Tob Walsh, a great-great grandson, Riley Hatlevig, and her former husband, Bernard.

Harley R. Walter

Harley R. Walter, age 87, of Potosi, died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. He was born on September 26, 1923, in Waterloo Township, the son of Homer and Florence (Schaal) Walter. On July 26, 1946, Harley was united in marriage to Hazel Harris in Kieler, WI. Harley was employed as a fork lift operator with John Deere for thirty years. He loved cutting wood, farming and gardening. Harley was an avid story teller and always had a joke to share. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Burton. Harley was also a member of the Potosi Lions Club and was a past President.

Survivors include six children: Larry Walter, Boulder City, NV, Dennis (Arleen) Walter, Potosi, Roger (Ann Kemink) Walter, Rewey, Jeannie (Dale Droessler) Droessler, Potosi, Mark (Joyce) Walter, Potosi and Patricia Pete (Lawrence) Baranosky, Edmonton, Alberta Canada; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother: Howard (Esther) Walter, Dubuque, IA; a sister-in-law, Helen Walter, Scales Mound, IL; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harley was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel on November 24, 2008; one granddaughter, Jenny Walter; and two brothers, Calvin Walter and Richard (Joyce) Walter.

Hazel M. Walter

Hazel M. Walter, age 86, of Potosi, died on Monday, November 24, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 2, 1922 the daughter of Tom and Zella (Cusick) Harris in Hazel Green, WI. Hazel was united in marriage to Harley Walter on January 26, 1946 in Kieler, WI. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother for 62 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Burton and made quilts with the ladies for many years. In addition to spending time with friends and family, Hazel also loved gardening, tending to her flowers, baking, taking long country walks, ceramics and making comforters for family.

Hazel is survived by her husband, Harley of 62 years; six children: Larry Walter, Boulder City, NV, Dennis (Arleen) Walter, Potosi, Roger Walter, Rewey, Jeannie Droessler, Potosi, Mark (Joyce) Walter, Potosi and Patricia Pete (Lawrence) Baranosky, Edmonton, Alberia Canada; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters, Helen Walter, Scales Mound, IL, Fern (DuWayne) Scott, Ft. Atkinson and Verna (Meredith) Glasgow, Scales Mound, IL; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dale and Orlin Harris and one granddaughter, Jenny Walter.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Martin Funeral Home in Potosi with Pastor David Froemming officiating. Burial was held in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi. Mark E. Walter

Mark E. Walter, age 55, of Potosi, died on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at his home. He was born on December 27, 1957, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Harley and Hazel (Harris) Walter. Mark graduated from Potosi High School in 1976. Following his graduation, he farmed rural Potosi until entering the United States Air Force. Mark served his country for thirteen years. Following his honorable discharge, he moved back home and farmed the family farm. On November 24, 2000, Mark was united in marriage to Joyce Breitsprecker in Potosi. He loved farming and cutting wood. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mark will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; his step-children: David (Katie) Gerhards; Nick (Allie Klein) Gerhards; Shannon Hoyer; his siblings: Larry Walter; Dennis (Arleen) Walter; Roger (Ann) Walter; Jeannie (Dale) Droessler; Patricia Pete (Lawrence) Baranosky; other relatives and many friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents.

Anna Marie "Sis" Walz

Anna Marie Sis Walz, age 81, of Glen Haven, WI died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center in Fennimore, WI. She was born December 23, 1926 in Prairie du Chien WI, the daughter of Andrew O. and Marie (Forest) Novak. Anna Marie attended St. Marys Academy School in Prairie du Chien. She was united in marriage to Gerald J. Walz on October 5, 1946, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. After their marriage, they lived in rural Glen Haven where they farmed until 1990. Anna Marie was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven, its Altar Society and was the bookkeeper for the church for many years. She also sold Shaklee products. Anna Marie enjoyed quilting, knitting, needle work, cooking, gardening, playing solitaire, donating blood and attending her grandchildrens activities. She was also interested in her familys genealogy.

She is survived by eight children: SuzAnne Taylor, Cedar Rapids, IA; Barbara (Lee) Ekblad, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Richard (Jane) Walz, Onalaska, WI; Paul Walz, Centennial, CO; Larry (Joanne) Walz, St. Cloud, FL; Tim (Tracy) Walz, Glen Haven, WI; Mary Walz, Prairie du Sac, WI and Michael (Colleen) Walz, Onalaska, WI; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Bea Novak, Prairie du Chien, WI; numerous nieces and nephews; many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald on April 30, 1993; a grandson, Samuel Walz and her brother, Andrew E. Novak.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven with Father Bart Timmerman officiating and Bill Manthe assisting. Burial was in Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven. Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington. Friends also called after 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning at the church until time of services.

Robert L. Walz

Robert L. Gabby Walz, age 77, of Bagley, WI, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 13, 1934, the son of Albert and Leone (Eulgem) Walz.

Robert married Virginia A. Krantz on January 19, 1954, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington, WI. He farmed in Glen Haven, and drove milk truck for the Bloomington Creamery and AMPI. Robert later worked at 3M. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church and the West Grant Lions Club; and enjoyed spending time outdoors.

Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia; ten children, Dale (Missy) of Granton, Dave (Deb) of Prairie du Chien, Carol Walz of Prairie du Chien, Cathy (Joe) Bierman of Prairie du Chien, Cecelia (Tim) Vorwald of McGregor, IA, Chris (Sam) Landes of Dane, Carl (Bethann) of Reedsburg, Darlene (Lawrence) DuCharme of Ames, IA, Don (Mary) of Huntley, IL, and Duane (Karen) of Madison; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene (Pat) Walz of Glen Haven; sister-in-law, Rosalyn Walz of Lancaster; two sisters, Lois (Vernon) Krantz and Janice (Warren) Johll, both of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 am on Monday, November 7, 2011, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Patch Grove, with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Johns Cemetery in Patch Grove Township. Visitation was held from 1 to 5 pm with a 12:45 p.m. parish scripture service on Sunday, November 6, at St. Johns Catholic Church, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Rosalyn Walz

Rosalyn L. Walz, age 84, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster. She was born on February 1, 1931, in Cassville, the daughter of Virgil and Lillian (Bausch) Hampton. Rosalyn graduated from Cassville High School. On August 27, 1952, she was united in marriage to Harold B. Walz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glen Haven. After their marriage, the couple traveled all over the world while Harold served his country in the United States Navy for twenty years. Following Harold's honorable discharge they moved to Prairie du Chien, retiring in 1989. Rosalyn enjoyed camping, crossword puzzles, paint-by-numbers and going to craft shows and flea markets.

Survivors include her daughter, Dianna (Roger) James; grandchildren: Crystal (Bethel) Tremmell; Serena Kapple; Emily Rush; great-grandchildren: Kayla Ward; Amara, Abriella, and Ainsley Tremmell; Jayde Kapple and Milo Leck; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Kathy Hampton; Virginia Walz; Gene (Pat) Walz; Lois (Vernon) Krantz; Janice (Warren) Johll; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rosalyn was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, Jerry Hampton and a brothers-in-law, Robert Walz and Celestine Walz.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Care Center Chapel, Lancaster. Burial was in Charlotte Cemetery, Glen Haven. Keith Wanezek

Keith R. Wanezek, age 39, of Platteville, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at his residence. He was born February 6, 1978, the son of Randy and Jean (Vesperman) Wanezek. Keith graduated from Platteville High school in 1997 and furthered his education at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore, graduating with a degree in criminal justice. He was employed by Grant and Lafayette County Sheriff Departments and the Hazel Green Police Department. Keith was currently in partnership with his father, Randy, at Wanezek Painting. He enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling, fishing, and cutting wood. Keith had a passion for anything involving the outdoors, sporting events, and smoking any kind of meat.

Survivors include his loving parents, Randy and Jean Wanezek; his beloved children: Wyatt Randall and Alyvia Lynn Wanezek and their mother, Arica; his brother, Kurt (Brandy) and their daughter Addison Schneider; his maternal grandmother, Joan Vesperman and her family: Jill (Chuck) Addison; Judy (Gary) Drinkwater; Jan (Ron) Stubbe; Jackie (Dan) Reuter; Jonna (Faron Yanna) Vesperman; Jane (Alex Gisoldi) Vesperman; an uncle, William (Marinette) Wanezek; an aunt, Edith Weiser; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his dog, Diesel.

Keith was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kaila Jenkins on September 26, 2016; his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Gladys Wanezek; his maternal grandfather, Jack Vesperman; and an uncle, David Weiser.

Antonette Ward

Antonette M. Ward, age 89, of Platteville, formerly of Potosi, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Park Place in Platteville. She was born on November 18, 1925, in Bloomington, WI, the daughter of Anthony and Veronica (Lyness) Meyer. Antonette attended Bloomington school and St. Andrew Catholic School, Tennyson, WI. On November 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to James B. Ward. After their marriage she raised her family and worked as a waitress. Antonette was later employed as a postal clerk. The family moved to Potosi, where she and James owned and operated Wards Tavern for several years until their retirement. Antonette loved quilting, crocheting, and playing cards. She was a wonderful cook and no one ever left her home hungry.

Survivors include her children: Robert (Marilyn) Ward, James (Jenette) Ward, and Marilynn (Richard) Dressler; grandchildren; Jennifer (Michael Blankstein) Dressler, Angela (David) Scanlan, Christopher (Paula) Dressler, James (fiance Lisa Feist) Ward III, Heather (Mike Silha) Meir, and Mandy (Christopher) Troester; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Elva Ward.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Antonette was preceded in death by her siblings: Joseph, Bernard and Virginia; three grandchildren: Stephanie Dressler, Carmen Ward and Jona Ward.

James B. Ward

James B. Ward, age 95 of Platteville, formerly of Potosi, passed away, Friday, December 13, 2013 at Southwest Health Center in Platteville. He was born January 12, 1918 the son of Alvin and Flossie (Chadwick) Ward. James enlisted in the United States Army in 1941 and married Antonette M. Meyer on November 22, 1941. He landed at Cherbourg, France with the 10^th Armored Division. James toured France, Germany, Bastone, and Belgium, ending with General Patton at Garmisch, Partenkirchen with the 10^th Armored Division. He received his honorable discharge October 17, 1945. He operated Wards Tavern in Potosi and later worked at John Deere in Dubuque. James was a Life Member of the Berg Averkamp VFW Post #5276, American Legion Post #473 of Potosi, and a National Member of the Tenth Armored Tiger Division. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.

Surviving is his loving wife of 72 years Antonette, children; Robert (Marilyn)Ward ,James (Jenette) Ward, and Marilynn(Richard) Dressler; grandchildren; Heather (Mike Silha) Meir, Mandy (Christopher)Troester, Angela (David) Scanlan, James (fiance Lisa Feist) Ward III, Jennifer (Michael ) Blankstein, Christopher (Paula) Dressler, a grandson-in-law, Dennis Meir; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters in law, Phyllis and Elva Ward.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Beatrice (Earl) Fillback and Gwendolyn (Richard) Jones, and his brothers Donald and Alvin, three grandchildren: Stephanie Dressler, Carmen, Ward, Jona Ward.

Lawrence M. Webb

Lawrence M. Hank Webb, age 88 passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Prairie Maison, Prairie du Chien, WI. He was born September 24, 1924 in Little Grant Township, Grant County the son of Frank and Dorcas (Drought) Webb. Hank graduated Bloomington High School in 1943. He traveled in the western United States and drove combine in the wheat fields. After returning to the Bagley area he was employed with Kent Feeds in Bloomington. He enjoyed gardening, coon hunting, metal detecting, and going to the dog track.

Surviving is a son, Joe (Bertha) Webb, Avon, Colorado; a daughter, Janita (Pat Hamilton) Kleinow, Patch Grove; eight grandchildren, Jesse (Nikki) Hamilton, Kook Hamilton, Amanda OConnell, Evan Kleinow, Anna, Amber, Joseph, and Ariel Webb; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Warrington; a daughter, Lorna Hamilton; a son, Matthew Skippy Webb; a grandson, Seth Kleinow; and a son in law, Bobby Hamilton.

Julie K. Weber

Julie K. Weber, age 52, of Lancaster, died on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster, as the result of an automobile accident. She was born on October 5, 1957, in Lancaster, the daughter of Richard and Janice (Bass) Adams. Julie graduated from Cuba City High School in 1975. On April 19, 1975, she was united in marriage to Jerry Weber at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville. Julie was employed with Advance Transformer and most recently with the local Dollar General and Home Care to You. Julie enjoyed celebrating holidays, especially Christmas, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family. Julie gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.

Oscar Wegmann

Oscar J. "Bud" Wegmann, age 88, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Madison. He was born on October 18, 1924, on the Wegmann family farm in Bloomington Township, the son of Henry and Emma (Osterhaus) Wegmann. Henry and Emma were part of a group of forty families who came from the Dyersville, IA, area to settle on farms in the Bloomington area in the early 1900s. Bud served his country in the United States Army from 1945-1947 stationed in Germany and Austria. On October 6, 1951, he was united in marriage to Coletta C. Wiest at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Together they farmed on the Wegmann family farm where Oscar has lived his entire life. He was a dedicated farmer and had an avid interest in registered Holstein cattle. Bud developed his herd with the prefix Blakes Prairie and shared this interest with many friends in the Holstein Association. Oscar enjoyed showing his cattle at fairs and other dairy shows when his children were members of the Blakes Prairie Bombers 4-H Club. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and the American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington.

Survivors include his wife, Coletta; children: Angela (John) Krogman; Martina (Patrick Huffman) Kief; Beth Wegmann; Mark (Mary) Wegmann; Patricia (Paul Sena) Wegmann; five grandchildren: Ken (fianc Amber Rowe) Krogman; Steve Krogman; Emily, Michael, and Madison Wegmann; brother, Joe (Elizabeth) Wegmann; sister, Norma (Jerry) White; and many special nieces and nephews.

John Welsh

John E. Welsh, age 53, of Mount Hope died Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center in Fennimore. He was born on September 12, 1955 in Lancaster, WI the son of Robert and Marion (Vesperman) Welsh. John attended school taking special education classes in Bloomington and Prairie du Chien. He worked at both the Twin Platte Center in Platteville and Southwest Opportunities Center in Lancaster.

John was a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church. He also was a proud participant in Special Olympics. John loved listening to music, dancing, typing and watching TV, especially the older shows. He had just been given a new puppy, Chip.

John is survived by his mother, Marion Welsh, his sister, Mary (Robert) Keeney and his nephew, Tom Keeney all of Mount Hope; many Aunts and Uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Jack and Leone Welsh and John and Velma Vesperman.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Mount Hope United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial at Hermitage Cemetery, Mount Hope was at a later date. Friends called from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church.

Marion L. Welsh

Marion Lucille Welsh, age 89, of Mount Hope, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at The Finley Hospital in Dubuque, IA. She was born on April 23, 1925, the daughter of John and Velma (Hayes) Vesperman. Marion graduated from Fennimore High School and went on to the University of Wisconsin at Platteville for a career in teaching. After graduation, she taught in many rural schools in the area, from there, she went to the Mount Hope School, Bloomington School, and finished her teaching career at Prairie du Chien. On November 26, 1948, Marion was united in marriage to Robert Welsh at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She was very active in the West Grant Lioness Club, Mount Hope Womens Auxiliary, Grant County Republican Women, Badger Camp and Southwest Opportunity Center. Marion enjoyed working each election poll and writing the Mount Hope News.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary (Bob) Keeney; grandson, Tom (Beth) Keeney and great-grandson, Ivan Keeney all of Mount Hope; brothers and sisters: Ruth (Cletus) Sisley, Lancaster; Percy Vesperman, Mt. Carroll, IL; Hazel Straka, Montfort; Stella Blair, Freemont; Archie Vesperman, Lancaster; Lyle Vesperman, Boscobel; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her son, John; a brother, Clarion; and sisters, Elsie and Bernice.

Edward Wentz

Edward A. Wentz, age 77 of Cassville, passed away Friday October 9, 2015 at his home. He was born January 27, 1938 the son of Alvin and Leona (Pickel) Wentz. He graduated from Cassville High School, and later served in the U. S. Army as a rifleman. Edward worked with his father at Beetown Feed and Hardware. He was later a patrolman for Beetown and Waterloo townships. Edward was united into marriage to S. Lynda DuVal on July 5, 1985 in Beetown. Together they were over the road truck drivers, and later, Edward was employed at Cabella's. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 352 of Cassville, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Surviving is his loving wife Lynda; his children, Nancy (Rusty) Fuls, Rodney, Kenneth (Renee), Brenda, Alvin (Kari), and Albert (Stacy) Wentz; siblings, Donna (Mac) Axe, Ron (Sylvia) Wentz, Barbara (John) Bond; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; step children; Rose (John) Werner, Adella (Robert Powell) Coulthard, Delvin (Nancy) Coulthard, Alice (Bob) Bechtolt, John (Brenda) Coulthard, and David (Lisa) Coulthard, and several nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his parent, Alvin and Leona, a son Steven, step children, Diane, Vivian, and Joe Coulthard, and a nephew David Hines.

Steven A. Wentz

Steven A. Wentz, age 46, of Fennimore, died on Friday, December 21, 2012, at Grant Regional Hospital in Lancaster. He was born on December 31, 1965, in Lancaster, the son of Edward and Carol (Shaben) Wentz. Steven graduated from Lancaster High School. Following his graduation, he resided at Larry Smiths home in Fennimore while being employed at the Opportunity Center in Prairie du Chien. He later resided at Spargroves Group Home, Cornerstone in Livingston and most recently, Cornerstone in Fennimore. Steven was employed at Southwest Opportunity Center in Lancaster, where he enjoyed shredding paper and collecting pop tabs.

Steven enjoyed bowling, word searches, puzzles, fishing, and playing cards. He loved attending all of the family get-togethers. Steven was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He was full of life and had a sense of adventure. Steven was able to give the gift of life by being an organ donor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mildred M. Wepking

Mildred M. Wepking, age 91, of Lancaster, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on January 6, 1918, in Iowa County, the daughter of George and Kathryn (Draves) Grunenwald. Mildred graduated from Livingston High School and furthered her education at the Teachers College in Platteville, graduating in 1942. Mildred taught school at Hazel Dell in rural Livingston for three years.

On June 12, 1945, Mildred was united in marriage to J. Dallas Wepking at Platteville. Mildred enjoyed the partnership with her husband owning and operating a furniture store and funeral home in Lancaster and a drug store/gift shop in Cassville. She also enjoyed standing by her husbands side during his years as Grant County Sheriff. Mildred was a charter member of the Grant Regional Hospital Auxiliary and of the VFW Auxiliary. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas on October 25, 1995, and a brother, Harold.

Survivors include her sisters: Alice Frye, Lancaster; Marian Griswold, Sun Prairie; a sister-in-law, Myrna Wepking, Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009, at Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Friday, May 1, 2009 from noon until time of services at the funeral home with a VFW Auxiliary service at 1:00 p.m.

Doris M. Werner

Doris M. Werner, age 89 of Patch Grove, passed away Saturday April 13, 2013, at Prairie Maison, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She was born November 19, 1923, the daughter of John and Nellie (Ward) Wilkinson. In 1942, Doris graduated from Patch Grove High School. On October 20, 1943, she was united in marriage to Eugene Werner. Together they farmed in Hurricane, Beetown, and later on the Wilkinson family farm in Patch Grove. Eugene preceded her in death in 2000. Doris was a member of the Patch Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed garage sales, playing cards and dancing with Gene.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include her brothers: John (Sue McCartney) Wilkinson, Millville; Jerry (Ilene) Wilkinson, Prairie du Chien; nieces and nephews: John R. (Abby Tredinnick) Wilkinson, Janet (Roger) Friedlein, Kevin (Deb) Wilkinson, Karen (Gary) Welter; and many great nieces and nephews.

Emily G. Werner

Emily Gertrude. Werner, age 92, of Lancaster, WI, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012, at Orchard Manor in Lancaster after a brief battle with cancer. Emily was born in South Lancaster Township on November 3, 1919, the daughter of Anton and Josephine (Fine) Udelhoven. She married Fay Werner on September 7, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa. Together they farmed near Lancaster. She enjoyed traveling with Fay throughout the United States and abroad. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, 4-H leader for 25 years, and volunteered at the Thrift Shop for 14 years. Emily will be greatly missed by her family that she loved so much and her friends who brought great joy into her life.

Emily is survived by her children, Donovan (Carla) Werner of Vallejo, CA, Dwaine (Debbra) Werner of Sun Prairie, WI, and Sharon (Daniel) Graney of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Laura Swecker, Robert Werner, Paula Werner, Derek Werner, and Donielle Werner; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fay in 2007; a son, Dennis; sisters, Pat Hartman and Bessie Udelhoven; brothers, Ray, Andy, and Robert Udelhoven.

Emily had requested that there be no visitation. A private family funeral was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Schwartz Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Ethel West

Ethel B. West, age 93, of Port Charlotte , FL , formerly of Belmont and Madison , WI , died Friday, November 25, 2011, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville , WI . Ethel was born on July 6, 1918, in Belmont , WI , to Justus and Lizzie Anna Margaret (Reichers) Bockhop. Ethel graduated from Belmont High School in 1935 and received a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Ethel then began her teaching career at the Cottage Inn school, a one room school house in Belmont , WI . At the start of World War II, Ethel briefly left teaching to aid the war effort by instructing servicemen in International Morse Code at the Scott Air Base in Illinois . Following the end of the war, Ethel taught Special Education for 32 years until her retirement in 1977 from the Monona Grove School District . Ethel married Walter W. West on March 16, 1946 in Madison , WI and they later retired to Port Charlotte , FL where she volunteered her time to the Women of Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Association of University Women and the Friends of the Library.

Ethel is survived by her daughter, Luana (Manuel) Juarez of Orfordville, WI; her grandchildren, Brian (Tina) Juarez of Fort Atkinson, WI, Sara (Ben) Koch ofJanesville, WI; and her great grandchildren, Andrew Juarez, Joshua Juarez and Isabelle Koch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1985; her parents, Justus and Lizzie; her brother, Harold; and her sister, Lucille.

Funeral Services were held at 1 pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville, with Pastor Connie Matye officiating. Visitation was held from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Belmont Cemetery . In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made in loving memory of Ethel to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Research Association.

Donald C. Wetter

Donald C. Wetter, age 85, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at Grant Regional Health Center. Donald was born on June 28, 1927 in Little Grant Township, the son of Clarence and Letha (Hore) Wetter.

He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1945. In that same year, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan. Donnie married Velma K. Edge on June 18, 1952 at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Together they farmed in Little Grant Township on the Wetter family farm. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2344. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, but especially enjoyed fishing. He dearly loved his family and took great pride in his grandchildren.

Donnie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Velma; two daughters, Julie Wetter Briel (John Briel) and Jill (Paul) Udelhoven; four grandchildren, Chloe and Sawyer Briel, and Michelle Udelhoven and Michael (fiance Krystal Holmes) Udelhoven; two brothers, Stanley and Harold (Dorothy) Wetter; a brother-in-law, George (Betty) Edge; a sister-in-law, Mercedes Mumm; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters-in-law, Aleise Wetter and Marion Leifer; a brother-in-law, William Mumm; nephews, Roger and Darrell Edge, Richard and Jim Mumm; and a nephew-in-law, Gene Hottenstein.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, with Pastor Barbara Cook officiating. Burial with military honors was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 4pm to 8 pm at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. M. Aleise Wetter

M. Aleise Wetter, age 86, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on November 24, 1923, in Shullsburg, the daughter of Francis and Lela (Bennett) Edge. After graduating from Lancaster High School, she began her employment at the Union State Bank in Lancaster and remained with the bank for forty-one years until her retirement in 1983. Aleise started as a teller and ended her career as a cashier and assistant vice president. Following her retirement, she remained doing contract work for the bank. On April 17, 1943, Aleise married Stanley C. Wetter. After their retirement, they enjoyed golfing with friends in Lancaster as well as in Florida and Arizona during the winter months. Together they won many Shuffleboard championships in Arizona.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley C. Wetter, Lancaster; her daughters: Kathryn (Charles) Hernett, Madison; Nancy (Dr. Robert) Hoffman, Lancaster; her grandchildren: Dr. Chad (Mary) Moore, Flagstaff, AZ; Angela (Jack) Burke, Phoenix, AZ; Christopher Moore, Lewisville, TX; Erin (Brad) Vesperman, Mt. Horeb; Dr. Peter (Amara) Hoffman, Lancaster; nine great-grandchildren; her sisters: Mercedes (William) Mumm, Dodgeville; Velma (Donald) Wetter, Lancaster; her brother: George (Betty) Edge, Lancaster; brother-in-law, Harold (Dorothy) Wetter, Lancaster; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Aleise was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Leifer.

Stanley Wetter

Stanley C. Wetter, age 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster. He was born on January 15, 1920, in North Lancaster, Township, the son of Clarence and Letha (Hore) Wetter. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1938. He was employed with the Grant County Highway Department until his retirement. Stanley plowed snow, ran bulldozer, built boat landings, and was later the parts manager in the county shop. He married Aleise M. Edge on April 17, 1943. In their retirement, Stan and Aleise enjoyed many years in Florida and Arizona during the winter months. Stanley had an exceptional vegetable garden and gladly shared its bounty with many. He was very proud to have been a member of Lancasters first volunteer rescue squad team and was its last surviving first member. Their picture is currently on display at Grant Regional Health Center.

Gregory D. White

Gregory D. White, age 27, of Kenosha, formerly of Cassville, died on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at his residence. He was born on August 20, 1983, in Kenosha . Gregory graduated from Cassville High School in 2002. He worked various jobs in the Kenosha area. Gregory had many outside interests that included fishing, firearms and collecting reptiles and snakes.

Survivors include his mother, Robin (Bill) White Yoose, Potosi; father, Dennis Mink, Kenosha; sister, Mikki Haight and his god-son, Aiden and niece, Harper Walsh, Cassville; grandfather, Davey White, Potosi; step grandmother, Genelda Yoose, Potosi; uncles: Dan (Theresa) White, Lancaster; Davey (Tammi)White, Platteville; and John White, Dubuque; his aunt, Rhonda (Dan) Stelpflug, Milwaukee; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Donna White; step grandfather, Calvin Yoose; stepbrother, Cody Yoose; and his dear friend, Sara Davidson.

James "Sonny" White

James W. "Sonny" White, age 86, of Potosi, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. He was born on February 15, 1929, in Lancaster, the son of James A. and Elvina K. (Kress) White. Sonny loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting turkey and deer, cooking, the Chicago Cubs, and doing arts and crafts. He enjoyed making homemade fishing lures for fly fishing. Sonny dearly loved his nieces and nephews and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his eight siblings: Eileen (Joseph) Klein, Livingston; Albert White, Platteville; Garland (Rose) White; Ralph (Eileen) White; LaVon "Bonnie" (John) Vogelsberg, all of Potosi; EeVon "Eevie" (Paul) Klein, Strawberry, AZ; Sandy (Rod) Blum, Anchorage AK; Joe (Rose Ann) White, Potosi; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Shirley White; a nephew, Scott Klein; a great-nephew, Jonathan White; and a great-niece, Blair Haas.

Paul F. White

Paul F. White, age 79, of Glen Haven, died on Friday, August 05, 2011, surrounded by his family at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born on August 15, 1931, on the family farm in Bloomington Township, the son of Everett Buck and Leona (Berntgen) White. Paul attended St. Marys Catholic School in Glen Haven and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1949. After graduation, Paul worked for his father on the family farm. On August 23, 1951, he was united in marriage to Patricia Hamilton at St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven. After their marriage, Paul worked for Glen Haven Township. In 1961, they farmed Patricias family farm. In 1988, the couple moved to Glen Haven. Paul drove truck for Lancaster Stone for five years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards, especially cribbage. Paul loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would pick on anyone who would let him. Paul especially enjoyed Ranger Ridingwith family and the annual Knights of Columbus Bowling tournaments. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Glen Haven, the Knights of Columbus Council 4416 and the Glen Haven Volunteer Fire Department.

William Whyte

William Herbert Whyte, Jr., age 86, of Cassville, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. He was born on January 7, 1931, in Youngstown, OH, the son of William H. and Elizabeth M. (Dittmar) Whyte, Sr. William graduated from Struthers High School, Struthers, OH. On January 17, 1952, he was united in marriage to Delorese I. Neises. After graduation, William went to Marietta College. He left college to join his father in the construction business, which brought him to Cassville to construct Dairyland Power Generating Station. After completion of the Dairyland Plant, he was employed by Dubuque Boiler & Boat Co. in Dubuque, IA, until 1951, when he joined the United States Marine Corp. William served his country full time until February 1954, but continued his services in the Marine Corp. Reserves until March of 1960. He was employed at Dairyland Power from 1954 until April of 1993, when he retired as the Operations Manager. William was active in the Cassville community. He served as a Village Trustee from 1975 until 1987 when he became Village President until 2000. William was an integral part of getting the Cassville Ferry in place. He was also a member of the Cassville Lions Club, serving as President, member of the Cassville Fire Department and the American Legion Post No. 352 of Cassville. William enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, and was an avid Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan.

Survivors include his sons: Thomas John (Cindy) Whyte, Cassville; Todd William (Julie) Whyte, Prairie du Chien; grandchildren: TJ (Michele), Oregon; Ben (Jen), Evansville; Erin (Zach) Blasco, Belleville; Casey (Danielle), Madison; Christopher, Platteville; Jonathon, Prairie du Chien; Seth, La Crosse; Mollee (Woodrow Fulcher), La Crosse; great-grandchildren: Hanna, Lila, Cameron, Maddox, Quinn, Aveah, and Colin; sister, Lois (John) Peters, Mechanicsburg, PA, and their son and daughter; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife, Delorese in 2000.

Paul E. Wichmann

Paul E. Wichmann, age 70, of Madison, passed away March 5, 2014. He was born January 24, 1944 in Stevens Point, the son of William Bud and Myrna June (Edwards) Wichmann. Paul graduated Madison Central High School in 1961. He was employed at Madison Opportunity Center and Ray O Vac. Paul was an usher at University of Wisconsin football games in Camp Randall and basketball games held in the Fieldhouse. He lived in Madison for more than fifty years and was a resident of the Romnes Apartments for over twenty years. Paul was an avid sports fan. He closely followed the Badgers, Brewers and Packers. He loved bingo and his bowling league. Paul was a member various Presbyterian churches in Madison and of the Eagles Club. Even though he had challenges in life, he was very generous of his time and talents to the residents of his apartment complex. Paul was often able to help the residents with their needs, driving them to appointments and shopping trips. He will be fondly remembered for his unique sense of humor, kindness to many, and great attention to detail.

Surviving are his cousins; Louis (Nancy), Phillip (Pauline), William (Pat), and Barrett Jung; Gaye (Jack) Scheidegger, Charles (Karol), and Scott (Carol) Wichmann and Brenda (Fred) Caruso and their families.

He was preceded in death by his father Bud in 1954, and later his mother Myrna June Duranti in 1998.

Family and friends were invited to attend graveside funeral services on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Belmont Cemetery, Belmont, Wisconsin, with Rev. Chris Davis officiating. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Platteville is assisting the family.

Marcella Wiedenbeck

Marcella Wiedenbeck, age 92, entered Heaven on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, with her family by her side at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born on January 4, 1922, to Harley and Aurelia Storms in Muscoda. Her father died when she was five years old, so her mother, brother, and she lived a difficult life while farming during the Depression. Marcella attended school and graduated from Muscoda High School in 1940. On April 11, 1959, she was united in marriage to Harry Wiedenbeck and two families became one. Together they farmed just outside of Lancaster until their retirement. Despite the difficulties that often came along with farming, Marcella loved being outside, watching crops grow, raising animals, and working hard. Farming was truly her passion. When retirement came, the couple moved to La Crosse to be closer to their youngest daughter, Joy, and her family. Their days were filled with helping raise their three youngest grandchildren, Amanda, Allyson, and Erin. Marcella enjoyed crafting and especially enjoyed making homemade Christmas ornaments that to this day decorate the families Christmas trees.

When Harry passed in 2007, Marcella moved back to Lancaster and continued to live independently. Again Marcella found that she needed something to occupy her days, so she began focusing on her quilting. Each day, she would work on a quilt, and during the last seven years, she completed well over one hundred quilts. In fact, she was working on a quilt just a few days prior to her death.

Survivors include her daughters: Judi Bembenek, Lancaster; Peggy (John) Sieger, Trempealeau; Colleen (Steve) Graney, Lancaster; Jeannie (Karl) Blumer, Albany; Joy (Kevin) Hennessy, La Crosse; a son, Dick (Rhonda) Wiedenbeck, Lancaster. She was proud to say she had eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and three nephews, Dennis, David, and Donnie Storms.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harry; sons, Theron Chitwood and Alan Pete Wiedenbeck; brother, Donald Storms; and a sister-in-law, Norma Storms.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethlehem E&R Church in Lancaster with Reverend Mark Dieter officiating. Private family burial will be in Basswood Cemetery, Eagle Township. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Arlene E. Wieland

Arlene Elizabeth Wieland, age 91, passed away peacefully at the Southwest Health Center of natural causes with family at her side on Monday, December 29, 2014. She was born on November 18, 1923, to Earl and Bertha (Dival) Jerrett in the township of North Lancaster. Arlene married Virgil "Bud" Wieland on September 12, 1941. Together they ran a beef and hog farm in Lancaster until 1986 when Bud passed away.

Arlene was a quiet, caring lady who accepted everyone. Her wonderful pies were enjoyed at every family gathering. Arlene's life was devoted to caring and providing for her family, helping on the farm, and supporting Bud while he participated on numerous Boards of Directors and committees. She enjoyed crocheting and word find puzzles. Arlene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster and a volunteer at the Lancaster Thrift Shop.

Survivors include her six children: Larry (Judy) Wieland, Lodi; Denny (Diane) Wieland, Peosta, IA; Marcia (Gary) Olson, Platteville; Dick Wieland, LaCrosse; Sharon (Larry) Pink, Platteville; Bill Wieland, Milwaukee; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lila Jerrett, Lancaster; Arlene Roesch, Lancaster; Dolores (Don) Metcalf, Cassville; and many nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil "Bud" Wieland; her three brothers: Earl "Junior" (Edna) Jerrett; Stanley "Buck" Jerrett, and Donnie Jerrett; a grandson, Craig Wieland.

Funeral services to honor the life of Arlene were on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Hurricane Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Lois L. Wiest

Lois L. Wiest, age 87, of Cassville, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at her granddaughters home in Cassville. She was born on March 8, 1927, in Cassville, the daughter of Nick and Rose (Kelley) Adrian. On October 12, 1946, Lois was united in marriage to Julius Wiest at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. They worked on the canning farm outside of Cassville, which her father Nick was the supervisor, until they purchased Juliuss family farm in 1951 and moving to Cassville in 2004.

Her greatest joy in life was her family and she sadly missed her husband, Julius Jupe when he passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013.

Survivors include a son, David (Mary) Wiest, Clinton, IA; daughter, Pam (Kirby Toberman) Sturmer, Texas; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and one great-great grandson; a sister, Carol Vogt, Lancaster; brother, Allan Adrian, Tewksbury, MA; two brothers-in-law, Gary and Dennis (Peggy) Wiest all of Cassville; a sister-in-law, Bernelda Britt, Dubuque, IA.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Lois was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Wiest, six sisters, three brothers, and their spouses.

Julius C. Wiest

Julius C. Wiest, age 88, of Cassville, died on Friday, August 16, 2013, at his home in Cassville. He was born on April 30, 1925, in Cassville, the son of Lawrence and Lila (Kirschbaum) Wiest. Julius attended country school and farmed his family farm outside of Cassville. On October 12, 1946, Julius was united in marriage to Lois Adrian at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. After their marriage, the couple farmed. In 1951, Julius purchased the family farm, which he farmed until 2004. He also owned and operated Wiest Fertilizer for forty-two years. Julius enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, playing cards, especially Euchre and Cribbage, tending bar, gambling on the boat and word search puzzles. His greatest joy in life was his family. Julius was a gentle giant and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Lois, Cassville; their children: David (Mary) Wiest, Clinton, IA; Pam (Kirby Toberman) Sturmer, St. Michael, MN; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two brothers: Dennis (Peggy) Wiest and Gary Wiest, all of Cassville; Bernilda Britt, Dubuque, IA; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Julius was preceded in death by his sisters and brother: Geraldine, Marina, Virginia, and Maurice; and a grandchild, Lisa Marie.

Funeral services were on Monday, August 19, 2013, at 12:00 noon at Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville with Pastor Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Vivian Wiest

Vivian W. Wiest, age 99, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. She was born on August 20, 1916, in North Lancaster Township, the daughter of William and Florence (Addison) Welsh. Vivian attended the old Badger School not far from the farm where she was raised. In 1937, she was united in marriage to Louis Wiest and lived with Louis and his parents on a farm a few miles west of where she was born. After Louis's parents moved to Lancaster in 1943, she and Louis stayed on the Wiest farm until Louis passed away in 1960. Vivian moved to a home on the corner of Harrison and Hickory streets which was her pride and joy. She loved her garden and flowers, especially the ones between the curb and the sidewalk. After moving to Lancaster, Vivian worked for Dallas Wepking at the jail, at Whitman's restaurant, and at Winskill School. She retired at the age of 75 after caring for senior citizens in their homes. Vivian was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church.

Survivors include her two sons: Richard (Barbara) Wiest, Verona; Jim and his daughter, Shelia, Milwaukee; a step-nephew, Jerry Olin and his family, Platteville; a sister, Winifred Eide, Madison; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Vivian was preceded in death by a son, Joe.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend John Sasse officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family with arrangements.

Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Orchard Manor who gave her such great care and to neighbors, Bill and Lorna Heinzelman, who lived across the street and helped her to stay in her home a few years longer.

Edward J. Wiezorek

Edward J. Ed Wiezorek, Jr., age 71, of Potosi, died on Friday, March 18, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 22, 1939, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Edward and Virginia (Leik) Wiezorek, Sr. Ed attended Holy Ghost Grade School and graduated from Loras Academy. He was employed with John Deere for thirty-one years as a tool and die maker. Ed also worked at the Dubuque Pack part-time. On October 20, 1984, Ed was united in marriage to Pauline Stohlmeyer at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. Ed truly cherished the time spent with his family, especially his two sons, who were the pride of his seventy-one years. He was very active within the Potosi community. Ed was the president and active member of the Potosi Tennyson Lions Club since 1998, the treasurer of the Potosi Township for four years, served on the Sts. Andrew-Thomas Parish Council and the Finance Committee and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6480. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 473 of Potosi. Ed was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and walk in the woods, especially with his boys. Ed also loved buying, restoring and selling antiques. He enjoyed going to garage sales, looking for the hidden and unknown treasures in other peoples junk. He loved spending time at his office enjoying the visits from his friends. Ed enjoyed the Sunday dinner gatherings that were shared with his family and his uncle, Ron. He also enjoyed reading and bird watching.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Wiezorek, Potosi; children: Edward J. Wiezorek, III, Potosi; Christian Wiezorek, Asbury; his sister and brother: Victoria (Don) Avenarius, Dubuque, IA; Jan Wiezorek, Chicago, IL; three granddaughters: Heather (Nate) Peterson, Tonya (Jesse Richards) Abing, Emily Wiezorek; three great-grandchildren: Cayden and Jazlynne Peterson and Cailee Richards; his aunts and uncle: Ruth Ann (Dale) Dolash, Marshalltown, IA; Elaine White, Galena, IL; Ron Leik, Dubuque, IA; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard Powers, Madison; Henry (Celine) Stohlmeyer and Joseph Stohlmeyer, all of Potosi; Michael (Betty) Stohlmeyer, East Moline, IL; Harold (Mary Pat) Stohlmeyer, Lancaster; Eva (Tom) Lyons, Potosi; Paul (Sandy) Stohlmeyer, Dubuque, IA; Bill (Mary Ellen) Stohlmeyer, Blue Grass, IA; Mary (Bob) Durst, Appleton; twenty-three nieces and nephews and many friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, one niece, Kim Avenarius, and a sister-in-law, Betty Powers.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Family and friends called on Monday, March 21, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson where a 3:00 p.m. parish scripture service will be held. Friends also called on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Edward J. Wiezorek, Jr. memorial fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is assisting the family.

The family wishes to thank Dr. John Whalen and his nursing staff at Tri-State Dialysis who truly are angels of mercy and love. Also to Jerry and Elaine Uppena and Tonya Abing who made it possible to keep Ed in his home these last months.

Elizabeth O. "Betty" Wilder

Elizabeth O. "Betty" Wilder, age 84, of Platteville, WI, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at ManorCare in Platteville. She was born on June 1, 1926 in Cassville, a daughter of Fred and Odelia (Gurney) Bausch. Betty grew up on a farm between Beetown and Cassville. She went to a small country school near their farm.

On December 30, 1943, she married Burnell A. Wilder of Cassville. From this marriage came two sons, LaVern and Kevin. The family lived in Cassville, Potosi, and then in 1957, they bought a home in Lancaster where they resided for 50 years and celebrated 50 years of marriage. Betty was a homemaker; she loved to cook and bake. Growing up every meal was big. She loved flowers, cardinals, and the color red. She enjoyed watching mud bogging and demolition derbies.

Betty will be remembered for her kind, loving heart and her "spunk", by everyone who knew her. She would hug people she just met and tell them "I love you." She touched the hearts of many friends and family as a sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. We couldnt have had better. She was our Angel in our hearts, and always will be.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burnell on April 19, 1994; her parents, Fred and Odelia Bausch; three sisters, Leila (Herbert) Bellis, Alice (Martin) Schmidt, and Rosemary (Lyle) Clauer; and two brothers, Francis Bausch and Fredrick Sonny (Shirley) Bausch.

Betty is survived by her two sons, LaVern (Christine) Wilder, Zepher Hills, FL and Kevin (Gayle) Wilder, Potosi; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Chrissy) Wilder, Michael (Jen) Wilder, both of FL, and Jesse Wilder of Potosi; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Abby and Darden Wilder, all of FL; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Bausch of Mt. Hope.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011, at Martin Funeral Home, 111 S. Tyler St, Lancaster, with Fr. Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster. Family and friends called from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Martin Funeral Home, and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.

Floyd Wilder

Floyd L. "Frog" Wilder, Jr., age 61 of Mount Hope, died Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. He was born on August 24, 1954, in Flint, MI, the son of Floyd L. and Nona L. (Dunnington) Wilder, Sr. Frog worked at Crossing Rivers Health, formerly Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, for 15 years as a maintenance technician. Frog was loved by his co-workers, family and many, many friends. He will be best remembered for his eagerness to help anyone, anywhere, at any time; his playful humor, love of the outdoors and animals - wild, domestic, sauteed or fried.

Survivors include his four daughters: Brandy Schmidt, North English, IA; Ruby (John Andrews) Wilder, Prairie du Chien; Jamie Wilder, Gays Mills; Hannah (Jason) Kluedtke, Boone, IA; 10 grandchildren: Chloe, Peyton, Alana, Brandon, Trinity, Thaedyn "Buddah," Nicole, Harper, Jace, and Averi; a brother: John (Linda) Wilder, Stoughton; a niece, Ashlee and a nephew, Justin; two honorary children: Tory and Colby.

In addition to his parents, Frog was preceded in death by a brother James in infancy and his beloved dog, Molly.

A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster. Private family burial was in the Beetown Cemetery, Beetown. Family and friends were welcome for visitation on Friday, October 23, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be given in Frog's name for Metastatic Cancer Research.
